• Now, here is what I had wanted to happen: I loved the dog now, and I wanted him to love me. I had tried to love, and I had tried to kill, and both had been unsuccessful by themselves. Kitabın Yazarı Edward Albee Kimdir?

Edward Franklin Albee (d.12 Mart 1928) Amerikan tiyatrosunun önde gelen yazarlarındandır.Kim Korkar Hain Kurttan (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) adlı oyunuyla tanınan yazar modernite ve harp sonrası Amerikan kültürünü eleştiren oyunlarıyla devrin değişik seslerinden biri olmayı başarmıştır.

1946- 1947 içinde Hartford’taki Trinity College’ta tahsil gördü. Bir süre roman ve şiir yazan Albee, ondan sonra oyun yazarı olmaya karar verdi. Başta tek perde 1962’de tamamladı. 1966’da beyazperdeye da uyarlanan bu oyun, Türkiye’de çeşitli kereler sahnelendi ve 1993’te Kabalcı Yayınevi tarafınca Kim Korkar Virginia Woolf’tan adıyla gösterildi. Albee oyun yazarlığının yanı sıra ABD’de çeşitli okullarda dersler de verdi. Seascape (1975, Deniz Manzarası), A Delicate Balance (Kılpayı, 1966) ve Three Tall Women (1991, Üç Boylu Kadın) adlı oyunlarıyla üç kez Pulitzer Ödülü kazanmıştır. Albee’nin ilk dönem oyunları absürt tiyatronun mühim örnekleri içinde yer almıştır
